Removal of rear bowtie

Does anyone know how to remove the rear bowtie? Is it just double sided tape? Does it come off easy or is the emblem wrecked when it comes off?

Double sided tape with two locating pins. Take your time and you can re-install with double sided tape without a problem. Just clean the area very well you're sticking it to and peel all the old off your bowtie and put new.

I used a squeegee to remove but the tape was stuck hard and I ended up bending the edge which messed up the chrome top cover. Good news is they are only $14 at your Chevy dealership.

Cool glad they're that cheap, may go buy a couple to test some ideas. Most are using a thin fishingline or dental floss to "cut" off the emblem.

I love the emblem on the rear deck... I put things in and out of the trunk every day and I discovered really quickly that you can use the emblem as a "handle" to close/open the trunk and you don't get fingerprints on the paint!

I do the same with the rear bow tie, use it as a handle.

Careful using that bowtie as a handle, it's not bolted on. Hate for you to pull it off (trunk is a little stiff to shut). I still have a bowtie on mine, but had to pull to get it painted

Thanks! I have been closing mine with the bowtie as not to finger the paint, I guess I will use the spoiler until it comes loose.

I was talking about removing the whole emblem so the chrome comes with it.

I was using the bowtie as a handle up until a couple weeks ago, now I just reach up and use the side of my wrist on the spoiler to pull it down. Wrist prints?!

I pull half way down on the latch on the inside, and use my hand inside the bottom of my shirt to push down on the paint and close it all the way. I'm sure it would work the same on a 5th gen.

Just as an FYI to other people reading this, if you completely remove the bowtie, there will be 2 little holes completely through the trunk skin. This bowtie isn't only held on by tape it has some little pins. Sorry if its been said already
